Physician Personal Statement

People often ask why I became a Physician. As a young boy, I watched my father practice medicine. I saw the gratitude that people had after being treated by my father.

I remember thinking how people would come to him often scared and with fear and leave with a feeling of security. I always felt that providing that kind of transformation to people would be the best possible thing I could do. Now, almost 30 years later, I look back at my journey in medicine.

I entered medicine not knowing exactly what would lie ahead, but knowing that I would always want to reflect back on what I saw in my father. I wanted to be able to show patient's kindness, compassion and love at the same time that I gave them excellent treatment of whatever condition they had.

Whether it be a young child with a cleft lip or a congenital deformity or a woman who is facing cancer, I know that I have the privilege and honor of treating patients and the duty and responsibility of doing so with skill, compassion and caring.
