Physician Personal Statement

As a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon, I have the privilege of working with a wide variety of patients, and I take enormous pride in transforming each patient's desired vision into rewarding results. I am passionate about improving the lives of others, and also about the profession itself-its combination of artistry and medicine, fine details and the big picture, instant gratification and lasting change, new technologies and tried-and-true standards.

As a woman, a wife, and a mother, I have a particularly deep and personal appreciation for the role breasts play in shaping a woman's identity and self-image. They are a symbol of feminine strength, nurturance, and sensuality, and I believe that all women should feel proud of their breasts. Unfortunately, many women do not feel this way, perhaps because their breasts are too small for their liking, or are too large causing discomfort, or have undergone changes from childbirth or mastectomy. I am dedicated to helping these women by empowering them to look and feel the way they want.

Fueled by passion for my profession, I draw from years of medical experience and expert knowledge of breakthrough innovations in plastic surgery to help women understand the variety of transformative procedures available so that they can select the option that's best for them. For instance, it has become increasingly common for breast reconstructions to be performed at the same time as the mastectomy. Because I work closely with a number of skilled breast surgeons, we can offer this option to patients, who benefit from having a skilled, multifaceted team to safeguard both their health and body image in a single surgery. In contrast, I also work with many patients who have gone years without a breast. When these women awake from surgery, their femininity has been restored, and they feel whole again. As more women triumph over breast cancer, the focus is shifting from merely surviving to moving forward. It's not just about 'removing,' it's also about 'restoring.' By restoring form, function, and confidence, I am honored to help patients look and feel better about themselves.
